Starbucks makes bid for Outlaws
May 4, 2001

With the recent purchase of the Anchorage 'Boms by Sun Micro Systems, it appears that another major company is interested in buying a PVBL franchise. This time it's the nation's favorite coffee company StarBucks, and they are interested in America's Team, the Deadwood Outlaws.

StarBucks Coffee Company is headquartered in Seattle, Washington, the original home of the Outlaws. The company recently completed plans to build a muti-billion dollar baseball only stadium, to be named StarBucks Grounds located on Mercer Island.

The Deadwood Outlaws are currently owned by the City of Deadwood, and is run by CEO/GM Philip S. Raisor. A lawyer for the town council of Deadwood has issued a response from the city that reads, in part: "There is absolutly no way the Deadwood Outlaws will be moving back to Seattle. We've heard these rumors before, and we'll probably hear them again, but our fans have nothing to worry about."
