Sun Microsystems Purchases Abominations
April 30, 2001
San Jose (AP) - Anchorage owner Nick Tulach approved the sale of the
Anchorage Abominations to Sun Microsystems, a leading software
company based in Silicon Valley, CA. Terms of the sale were not
disclosed, but Tulach assured the media that he would remain on as
president of the club.
"This is a signifigant step toward remaining competitive. As far as
I know, this sale is unprecedented in this league." said Tulach. The
team will be relocating to the San Francisco Bay Area and the new
operating name will be the Sun Microsystems SolarCats. They will play
out of 3Com Park at Candlestick Yards.
Sun Microsystems CEO Scott McNealy commented that "Microsoft doesn't
have (refuse) on this team. We'll kick their (posterior) in company
softball now."
Day-to-day operation of the team should be affected little by the sale.
Tulach will remain manager, as well as assuming the role of president.
"The Man" will become Vice-President of Baseball Operations and General
Manager. It is also expected that he will continue his role as narcotics
dealer, possibly expanding it to Sun's offices in San Jose. Coaching staff
will remain unchanged, as well.
