Abominations Shutout, Embarassed at Home
April 26, 2001
Anchorage AK (AP) - Crack-head Darryl Strawberry said it best. "I was high
as a kite, but I was still more ready to play then the rest of the team." said
Strawberry after an embarassing 4-0 loss to the Albany Cougars in front of
6,071 fans at Poopmoose Park. Strawberry accounted for 3 of the Abominations'
four hits in the shutout and fill-in starter Steve Tsamis was run early in
his first appearance since the 1999 season.
"We've struggled, no doubt about it. But we'll make adjustments and move on.
We've gotta find some offense, though." said Anchorage skipper Nick Tulach.
Abominations Trade Grissom, Guardado
Anchorage AK (AP) -- Anchorage announced early this afternoon that a deal has
been struck involving Anchorage centerfielder Marquis Grissom and closer
Eddie Guardado. Abominations' GM "the Man" held a news conference to confirm
the deal with the media. The deal sends the 31 year-old Grissom and Guardado
to Area 51, in exchange for left-handed slugger Brant Brown and prospect
Lee Barker, as well as a 2001 amateur draft pick. "Though we hate to give up
such talented players as Grissom and Eddie, we feel that Brant and Barker can
help us in the future greatly. Brant is an excellent defender at first base
and will take over that spot immediately. Lee will continue to develop his
skills, particularly on defense, which he needs a lot of work on, in Maui."
said "the Man". "We look forward to both become signifigant pieces in what
we are trying to accomplish here in Anchorage."
