Bums Apparently Not Satisfied with Ace May 2, 2000
Vero Beach, FL (AP) - The Vero Beach Bums are reportedly taking trade
offers for ace pitcher Willie Adams, according to league sources. Adams,
who has accumulated a 43-20 record with a 2.89 ERA in just over three
seasons with the Vero Beach Bums and the Washington Sea Dogs, is
unsatisfied with the terms of his contract with the organization, according
to reports. Adams stepped into the ace role after the trade of Albie
Lopez, following the 1999 season. Adams was rated by an independent
statistics company as the only pitcher in PVBL to have 3 pitches ranked
above "70" and no pitches ranked any lower. They also gave Adams a "99"
rating in control, their highest rating.
The Bums are reported to have received offers from the Missisauga MapleDogs
and the Moncton Moose. Bums owner Jason Gohlke was unavailable for comment.
