PVBL: Deadwood Outlaws
Outlaws In Full Rebuilding Mode

June 14, 2000

by Ivana Shagalot

EL Homer leader Tim Salmon knows that he's on the market, and has been for some time, but he's not letting it get to him: "I'm just going out there and doing my best. I can't control what happens in the front office."

Salmon is just one of the many Outlaws that General Manager Philip Raisor has been trying to unload, with little success. There is a glut of teams that are rebuilding, causing a log jam of quality players.

Raisor is becoming a bit antsy, but insists that he will not be forced to make bad moves. "The plan is to be back into contention in two years. We've been able to bring in some quality players, and now it's all about pitching."

Notes:

-SS Jeff Blauser (.273/.333/.450 9 HR, 28 RBI, 3 SB), recovering from a recent slump, has been moved up to the number two spot in the lineup.

-3B Dean Palmer (.318/.377/.596 20 HR, 40 RBI) has asked GM Philip Raisor that he not be traded, but Raisor refuses to exclude anyone from trade talks, except for DH Brad Fullmer.

-RHP Chan Ho Park (2-3 6.14 ERA) and RHP Felipe Lira (2-5 6.67 ERA) continue to sturggle, but Raisor will not be sending either to AAA Dodge City for the time being.

-LHP Jeff Fassero (6-4 4.43 ERA) would like to be traded to a contender. "I've only got a year or two yet, and I want another ring!" So far, there has been little or no interest in the veteren with a career record of 47-25 with a 3.74 ERA.
