PVBL: Montreal Royals
Royals Winning Royally

September 6, 2000

Montreal Royals starter Armando Reynoso (8-8) and Bill Simas combined on a 1-hitter in a 5-0 win over the New Orleans Vampires. The Royals shrunk Edmonton's lead to 9 1/2 games. Reynoso's shutout makes up for his thoroughly mediocre pitching throughout the beginning of the season, but he needs to turn it on in September.

In other news, the famous knuckleballer and fan-favorite, Richard Galen, has been released from the Montreal Royals organization after giving up 13 runs in one relief appearance. "Now that we are making a run for the playoffs, we have to be serious about winning," said Royals skipper Gary Carter. "If we're lucky, one of our opponents will pick up Galen."
