General Ronald McCoy would have been proud. The division named after the
former World War I general, U.S. senator and international peace activist
(also a great baseball fan) has seen two of its teams--the Hartford Whalers
and the Deadwood Outlaws--go on to become PVBL champions. The only team to
win the World Series outside of the McCoy division is the Galena Hamsters.
Will the Edmonton Sled Dogs, one of the strongest teams in history, carry
the torch for the McCoy division?
"One of the hallmarks of this division is that teams have had to struggle
to win," says Royals GM Carbonetto. "As long as our team continues to push
in the standings, the Sled Dogs will be well prepared for the playoffs, I
imagine."
"This team reminds me a lot of the great Edmonton Oilers of the 80s," says
GM Brian Sculac. "This team is so young and there is so much talent on this
team. But no question, the strength of this team is Alex Rodriguez. If we
don't win this year, this team will continue being a force in this league
as long as we keep the team together."
