Three Montreal Royals pitchers--Richard Galen, Pete Harnisch and Jose
Mesa--combined on the first every 20-strikeout performance in PVBL history.
The starter, Galen, had 17 strikeouts through 8 innings of work, but
Montreal skipper Gary Carter pulled him out of the game even though Royals
were winning by a 4-run margin. But the bullpen finished off the game with
a 3-K ninth inning. Every Deadwood hitter was a strikeout victim at least
once.
A regular Kerry Wood, wouldn't you say? The only difference, of course, is
that Richard Galen is 39 years old.
Of note, Brady Anderson was a one-man show in the batting lineup, going
4-for-5 with 2 doubles and a home run. He accounted for half of Montreal's
hits.
