PVBL: Montreal Royals
Deadwood Fans are Embarassed

April 22, 2000

Skeptics go hide in your little holes. The knuckleballer came and the knuckleballer conquered. Ricard Galen, the 38-year old rookie pitcher, struck out 16--I repeat 16--Deadwood batters in his first career start. He let up only 3 hits and no walks. In the end, he pitched nearly 8 innings and Pete Harnisch preserved the shutout.

Could Richard Galen be the next Cy Young award winner? Let's rephrase the question: who is having a better start to the season than him?

Also of note: the Montreal Royals scored 14 runs in the 8th inning ALONE. Brad Clontz saw his ERA shoot higher than the score in a Lakers-Bulls game.
