PVBL: Montreal Royals
Can Anyone Stop the Sled Dogs?

April 16, 2000

Their starting pitching has been questionable, but no one has really questioned the pitching because their hitting has been overpowering. The Sled Dogs hit 10 home runs in the two games against the Montreal Royals. Kirk Rueter took the most damage, giving up 10 runs in 5 2/3 innings. "They profited from my mistakes, that's for sure," said Kirk Rueter. "But they also hit home runs on some pretty good pitchers, too."

The Edmonton Sled Dogs have won 9 games in a row, and their record stands at 9-2. "Just give them a little chance to cool down," said manager Gary Carter. "We have to keep on plugging, and eventually we'll get to this team. To tell you the truth, I am surprised they are doing this well so far, but I was equally surprised how badly they did last season. I think their advantage is that we haven't been paying attention to them."
