PVBL: Mississauga Maple Dogs
Dog fight gets interesting

October 7, 2000

The Mississauga MapleDogs are facing the Edmonton Sled Dogs in the battle of Canada and the battle of the dogs. Both teams have proved to be Road Warriors as well, seeing as how the road team has won every game so far.

Mississauga won the first two games of the series in Edmonton forcing the Slush Puppies to win three games in a row at Mississauga.

They took the first game in Mississauga with a resounding 11-1 victory. Pete Schourek pitched a fine game, giving up only 1 run in 7.2 innings. Edmonton's Mark Wholers closed out the 9th just to get some work.

"Unfortunately David Wells didn't do what we hoped he would. Last year he helped Deadwood win the title and we thought that would've been valuable at this time but he's got this "I've already got my ring, let me drink and bowl" attitude." GM Gouldson said.

The MapleDogs will put Steve Trachsel on the mound for game 4. "Steve has always pulled through in the clutch, but if Edmonton forces a game 5 then we've got Brownie (Kevin Brown) ready to go, and there's no one else in the league you'd rather have at a situation like that."
