PVBL: Kamloops Blazers
Fryman Goes North Of The Border

April 27, 2000

KAMLOOPS, BC- It never fails... As soon as a GM says that he's not planning on making any trades, he pulls one off less than 48 hours later. That's what Blazers GM Paul Glass did when he acquired Travis Fryman from the Deadwood Outlaws, who are in the midst of baseball's biggest fire sale since the '94 MLB Expos.

Fryman is the second player from the 1999 Deadwood World Series team to join the Blazers. The injured Roberto Alomar is expected to join the team after intense rehabilitation by the end of the season.

"Fryman will add some much needed punch to our lineup," Glass announced, "And with his versatile glove, he can play exceptional defense anywhere in our infield. What a star!"

The Blazers did give up a couple of good prospects to land Fryman: LF Brooks Kieschnick, who has struggled with a .205 average thus far this season but should one day be a .300 hitter, and 3B Bobby Smith who probably never would have seen any playing time in Kamloops despite solid potentials.

"Winning the World Series with Deadwood was the greatest experience of my life, but now when I look at Kamloops, I'm excited about what this team has in store. We're young, talented and optimistic, and from what I've heard, the fans have been great. I can't wait to join the team tomorrow."
