Chrabascz stirs controversy in New Orleans September 2, 2000
New Orleans, LA (AP)- New Orleans Vampires Owner, Jeremy Chrabascz, has
created quite a stir in Louisiana. Protestors have flooded his office with
letters, faxes and e-mail messages. Picketers have camped outside both his
office, his home and Huey Long Park. His family has received death threats.
And then, there are those who just laugh. "I think it's hilarious," a
Vampires fan on the street, John Silver, said. So, what's all the hubub
about?
As of 9am on Tuesday, May 18th, former Whitehouse intern and immortalized
mistress, Monica Lewinsky, officially joined the permanent payroll of the
New Orleans Vampires PVBL franchise. So, what will Ms. Lewinsky be doing?
"She'll be a ballgirl," responded Chrabascz, "and, frankly, I don't see what
all the fuss is about. You couldn't expect the girl to be unemployed her
whole life, could you? Her book flopped so she went back to doing what she
was best at." And what was that, we asked? "Catching balls, mostly.
Chasing down whatever pops up, really," Chrabascz replied with a grin.
Lewinsky will also be assigned "special administrative duties" to "assist"
the New Orleans coaching staff. No word was given on just what those
"duties" would be or how Chrabascz's wife, Cathy, feels about any of this.
