The New Orleans Vampires just completed one of what are sure to be many deals completed over the next couple of weeks. Both teams got exactly what they needed and wanted. Veteran hurler Jaime Navarro will be headed along the coast and over to Tampa Bay in return for upstart hurler Jackson Pride and veteran SS Walt Weiss.
Few people could be reached for comment but Owner Jeremy Chrabascz released the following, ever-so-brief statement: "We are extremely pleased to have obtained a pitching prospect of Jackson Pride's caliber. With Sterling and Kevin, we feel we will have a solid rotation next year. Mr. Pride is just the first of many pieces of the puzzle to have been put into place. As far as obtaining Weiss goes, were are quite pleased to have another versatile infielder to add depth to our club. With Bip (Roberts) on the DL for 2-3 months we can always use a helping hand and Walt's ratings are still respectable. He'll contribute. That is all. Stay tuned and fans, be patient."
