Wynne out of favor in Hamster Organization? July 8, 2000
Galena, IL-- Jesse Wynne, one of the top pitching prospects in PVBL
baseball, may be leaving America's premier franchise, the Galena Hamsters.
Sources close to the organization claim that Wynne, who did not live up to
expectations this season by going 1-4 with a 6.04 ERA in 11 starts, may be
placed on the trading block. It is believed the Hamsters have so much
starting pitching depth at the major and minor league level that Wynne
will not have a home with the organization.
Owner and GM Matthew Peck was interviewed, stating that "right
now, we see us as having a rotation of [Jeremi] Gonzalez, [Kevin] Appier,
[Tennessee] Jones, [Carl] Pavano, and [Kevin] Tapani. We consider the
young lefty Louie Morgan to be our '#6 starter.'
RHP Jesse Wynne, 23, is the most likely of the pitching prospects
to be traded, because of his age. Most of the other prospects are quite
young and are several years away from contributing at the major league
level. Wynne, however, projects to be a solid starting pitcher next
season, potentially quite dominating. Wynne had been clocked at 101mph in
spring training earlier this year, although he lost a few miles on his
fastball during his last few starts, possibly due to a tired arm.
