Galena, IL--Only a short time after trading ace starter Darryl Kile to Tampa
Bay, Galena owner/GM Matthew Peck worked out two other deals. First, Reggie
Sanders was sent to the Deadwood Outlaws for C Mike Stanley and RHP Todd
Stottlymeyer, who had a 4.85 ERA last season in 32 starts. Peck plans to use
Stottlymeyer primarily as a long reliever and spot starter.
Soon after the trade of Reggie Sanders, Peck sent another outfielder
packing. Galena sent RF prospect Johnny Butler, 23, to New Diggens for their
1st round amateur draft pick and pitching prospect Terrel Wade, "This was a
deal that helps both clubs," noted Peck, "We had a surplus of outfielders
and didn't have a place to play Butler. New Diggens, on the other hand, was
desparate for a young player like Butler. This trade allows us to continue
maitenance on one of the premier farm systems in the league."
Trade Note: It is possible that Todd Stottlymeyer could be immediately
shipped out of Galena, if Mr. Peck was tempted by an interesting offer;
however, it appears that the Galena Hamsters are finished trading.
