PVBL: Edmonton Sled Dogs
Edmonton Stumps Critics

April 13, 2000

Edmonton(AP)-During the pre-season, not much was said by all the prognosticators about the fortunes of the Sled Dogs. Most of the Media talked about the power of the Deadwood Outlaws, the Montreal Royals and the revamped New Orleans Vampires. Nary a word was spoken on the quiet, but very good Edmonton Sled Dogs. "I read most of the Baseball magazines and they mostly predicted we would finish 3rd or 4th in our Division." grumbled Manager Alan Trammell."Well, I like being the underdog. This is a good ballclub from top to bottom. Greg Vaughn is having a huge start, and guys like A-Rod and Hundley haven't come around yet. Just wait." The Sled Dogs have won 4 in a row now after dropping their first 2 games to the Vampires. "GM Sculac was criticized all summer about his not making any deals, but look at our Team. I'm glad he didn't"

-Greg Vaughn is batting .400, hitting in the #9 position in the Lineup. "Like I said before, I'm just happy to be on this Team. I wanna prove that I could still hit the Ball too." Look for Vaughn to be moved up in the order.

-Alex Rodriguez continues to struggle, hitting a mere .181. "I'm not worried about A-Rod, he'll come around. He's the best Shortstop in the game. He'll be fine. I may take him out of the cleanup slot though." Commented Manager Trammell.

-The Bullpen continues to shine for the Sled Dogs. The combo of Wohlers, Garces, Shaw, Cordova and Powell, has yet to give up an earned run. "We knew we'd have the relief pitching going into this season.."smiled Trammell.
