AllKnighters Make Deal with Centennials April 27, 2000
Ann Arbor, with an eye to the future, has dealt power hitting 3B
Shane Andrews, along with their 2nd rd ammy, to Atlanta for their first
rd Ammy and prospect Luis Melter.
"Well, this leaves a huge hole in the left side of our inflied and
our lineup," said GM Michael Kennedy. "Andrews was the glue that held
this team together during our improbable(and unsuccesful) playoff run
last season. He hit .290 last year with almost 30 dingers and 100 rbis,
not to mention his great glove. But, we really think this helps us for
the future."
Buhner should see some action at third base while the AllKnighters OF
depth will help to relieve some of the missed power.
This deal comes on the eve of the team trading SS Desi Relaford to
Spokane for piching prospect Russ Ortiz.
