Anchorage Hires Former Abominations as Coaching Staff November 26, 2000
Anchorage AK (AP) - The Abominations retained two of their three retirees this
week, but in a different capacity then on the field. Anchorage general
manager "the Man" announced today that the Abominations have extended offers
to both Ricky Henderson and Oil Can Boyd to move into coaching positions with
the team. "Wow, man, this is a excellent day in the history of the 'Bongs,
I mean 'Boms. These guys really know what they're talking about and stuff."
said "the Man" in an early morning press conference.
Henderson, who played the entire season in AAA for the New Iberia Swamp Rats,
will take over the managing duties of that team, at least for now. "We have
plans to promote Ricky to manager of the 'Boms, assuming he does the job that
we know he's capable of doing with the Swamp Rats." said owner and current
manager of the Abominations, Nick Tulach. "Oil Can has replaced pitching
coach Chuck Crim as our pitching staff coach. I have the utmost confidence
that he will do a great job in that capacity." Crim was let go after Tulach
and "the Man" finished their season evaluations. Crim has since taken a job
coaching a little league team in West Allis, WI. He is said to be on the
hot seat there as well.
As for now, Anchorage owner Nick Tulach will continue the managing duties
for the team, while "the Man" prepares for the upcoming free agent signings
and the free agent draft. "(The managing duties) are wearing me a little
thin. But things have worked out good since "the Man" actually started
doing work instead of just mooching drugs off the players all day. I think
he even showed up to work yesterday sober." said Tulach. "He might have
even made it to lunch without the use of drugs or alcohol."
