Anchorage Ups Its Wattage

June 1, 2000

Anchorage AK (AP) - In response to a lackluster offense and a total lack of power hitting in their lineup, Anchorage GM "the Man" pulled off a critical deal to bolster the team's power hitting ability. Anchorage sent outfielder James Brosius and a minor league pitcher to Houston in exchange for slugger Jose Canseco. "We feel Jose will give us not only another great Latin-American name on our roster, but also a big stick to shove up Galena's (backside)." said "the Man".

Jose is currently hitting .287 with 15 homeruns in 202 at-bats. He is expected to take over one of the outfield positions, or possibly DH. "We are looking into where we can play him. If it means moving Brian (McRae) and Lance (Johnson), well, then it'll have to be done" said Nick Tulach, owner and manager of the Abominations.

Anchorage has only had one real power threat this year, John Jaha. "I've felt like I've had to carry this team. I hope that this move will help us score some more runs." said Jaha.
