PVBL: Thunder Bay Storm
F.P. Santangelo is Named Manager

June 16, 1999

The Thunder Bay Storm have named newly acquired F.P. Santangelo their player/manager today. Yesterday GM Gouldson dealt Tony Gwynn and the Storm's 2nd round FA pick to Anchorage for Santangelo and pitching prospect Tom Magner. Anchorage had been interested in Gwynn for some time now and Gouldson is a huge fan of Santangelo.

At a press conference today Santangelo was excited to be with a promising team like Thunder Bay and ecstatic when told that he had a chance to manage the team too. "This is the greatest day of my life! I feel reborn! I'm turning over a new leaf. No more substance abuse, no more harrassing school children, nothing! I'm gonna be clean from now on!" Santangelo said, refering to his problems in Anchorage. "That city has some serious problems, not with the team, just in general." Santangelo also told reporters. Gouldson has also left the draft duties of the upcoming amateur draft up to Santangelo. F.P. was critical in his praise of Gouldson, "I couldn't ask for more from this man. He's given me a new reason to live!"

Notes

-Although the team is loaded with talent, the Storm is still hovering around .500, dipping a game above or below. Word is that if they are still around .500 at the all-star break Gouldson will be making some major changes and that no one will be safe.
