PVBL: Spokane Pirates
Spokane Trades Maddux

April 13, 1999

From the Spokesman review: The Spokane Pirates sent shock waves through the PVBL by trading away quite possibly the best pitcher in the League. Spokane Traded away Greg Maddux and John Mabry for Alan Benes and Gold gloved, potential All-Star third baseman, Ken Caminiti, formerly of the Deadwood Outlaws.

The Press Conference was periodically interrupted by streams of explosive curses, presumably coming from disgruntled Spokane pitching coach, Seth McMullen.

"I hate to let go of a premier pitcher like that, but Benes is an adequate replacement. And Ken will help us every day. " Gloated GM Jeremey Stephens. "And if were going to let him go, might as well send him as FAR as possible. By the way, I wont be answering my phone for the next few days, as I have already received death threats from the other owners in the McCoy Division."

"The trade was made because I knew that we needed a new bat to replace the newly retired Paul Molitor, who is our new hitting coach.

After we pried McMullen hands from around Molitor neck, Paul said he was very pleased with the trade."
