PVBL: Richmond Panthers
Owner moves on to something he is slightly better at

September 19, 1999

In an unusual move, the owner of the Richmond Panthers gave up control of his team. He stated that he is attempting to follow Weiner's precedent. Weiner owned the Washington Seadogs in the AVBL, but gave up the team (which later moved to Halifax) to focus his energies on his PVBL Washington Seadogs.

Briggs believes that he has positioned the Panthers to have a great rebuilding process. They have numerous draft picks, a young team, and the chance to take a player in the upcoming 16 team player swap (8 of the best, 8 of the worst). If the team was in any worse shape, he would stick with the team, Briggs stated. Briggs is giving up his PVBL Richmond Panther team to focus his energies on his PUBL California Golden Eagles.

There is one extra precedent that Briggs hopes to follow. When Weiner sold his AVBL team, he didn't completely leave the AVBL. He became the league reporter. If possible, Briggs will try to also follow this precedent. His first assignement is to trace the PVBL's development.
