PVBL: Deadwood Outlaws
Alomar not headed to Alaska

November 6, 1999

Injured 2B Roberto Alomar will not be signing with Anchorage after all. Anchorage decided that they didn't want to wait for Alomar's injured knee to heal, so they signed free agent OF Lance Johnson, late of the Washington Seadogs, to a deal instead. Alomar is still looking at his options, but odds are he will remain with the World Champion Outlaws.

In a purely administrative move, GM Phil Raisor placed Alomar on the club's Disabled List.

INJURY UPDATE
*RHP Jose Rijo continues to rehab his bicep after season ending surgery back in July. Rijo is expected to be ready for Spring Training, and is expected to compete for a spot in the Outlaw rotation.

*1B/DH Cecil Fielder elected not to have surgery on his herniated back, but instead, opted for treatment. He has repsonded well to the treatment, and will be ready for Spring Training. Raisor has indicated that he would like to trade the slugger, but if not, Fielder will probably be the team's big treat off the bench, plus get playing time at DH.

*3B Scott Brosius should be ready for spring training after playing over half the season with a severly bruised heel.

*OF Eric Davis, who underwent neck fusion surgery, will likely announce his retirement soon. He has already accepted a position as an advance scout within the organization, and will assume those duties once he has recovered from surgery.
