The city of Deadwood has been a non-stop party for hours now with no sign of
stopping, as the city celebrates the Deadwood Outlaws first world title.
"I literally don't know what to say," said GM Phil Raisor just minutes after
the Outlaws defeated the Groundhogs 12-6 in game 7.
World Series MVP Jeff Fassero was equally stunned. "We thought we had the
talent to do this, but with all of our injuries, it just didn't seem like
this was our year. This is just fantastic!"
Not everything was roses for the Outlaws as 2B Roberto Alomar went down with
a blown out knee, and will be out for over six months. The Outlaws have no
real replacement at second base, a situation that will have to be addressed
in the offseason.
A parade will be held on Tuesday to honor the new Champions on Main Street.
