PVBL: Deadwood Outlaws
Special Report: Outlaws 2000!

September 30, 1999

Even while the Deadwood Outlaws prepare for the playoffs, General Manager Philip Raisor is hard at work prepairing for next season. Raisor recently signed the entire Outlaw coaching staff to new contracts to return in 2000. Field manager Don Slaught was also promoted to Assistant General Manager, and will have more imput on personel matters.

The Outlaws wil almost surely lose a player in the Free Agent Draft. Raisor is already working towards replacing whoever is taken. "While no talks have started, we certainly have a plan on who we will talk with about replacing whoever we lose," said Raisor. Raisor would also like to upgrade the rotation in the off season. While not confrimed by the front office, it is rumored that the Outlaws would like to make a deal for former Outlaws RHP Scott Erickson of Houston or LHP Randy Johnson of Tucson. Rumor has it that 1B Rafael Palmerio may be expendable because of the faster-then-expected progress of probable EL Rookie of the Year Brad Fullmer.

It is rumored also that Raisor would like to find a leadoff hitting outfielder so that 2B Roberto Alomar can move to a RBI producing spot in the lineup. Alomar has had an awesome year hitting .316 with 29 homers and 82 rbi out of the leadoff spot. Galena CF Kenny Lofton has been singled out as being of interest by the Outlaws.
