PVBL: Deadwood Outlaws
Down On The Farm News/Notes

September 9, 1999

AAA Dodge City continues to struggle, and are currently last in the division. Part of the problem is that hitting coach Julio Franco was recalled to the Outlaws over a month ago, and no replacement has been named.

20 year old Catcher Bill Harrington continues to impress Outlaw management. He currently has a .275 batting average with 14 homer runs and 60 rbi to lead the team. Of Harrington, GM Phil Raisor said, "Bill's probably our best prospect right now, he's a potential .290 hitter with some pop, which he's shown this year. I'd look for him to be in Deadwood at the end of next season."

LHP Alan Embree is furious that he was not recalled when the major league rosters were expanded to 40, and has demanded a trade. GM Phil Raisor has agreed to do so when the rosters become unfrozen after the world series.

Look for AAA Dodge City manager Ken Griffey, Sr. to join the Outlaw's coaching staff next year. It is expected that Julio Franco will take over the job in Dodge City.
