After losing three straight to the (now) first place Montreal Royals,
Outlaws GM Phil Raisor has decided that changes need to be made NOW. "We've
played extrememly poorly in the last month, and it's time to make some moves
before things get out of hand," said Raisor at today's post game press
conference.
The Outlaws are in search for some high quality starting and relief
pitching. Raisor has indicated that, not only, is the team willing to part
with every draft pick between now and the year 2005, but possibly, an
offensive star (like 1B Rafael Palmerio or Tino Martinez, etc). Apparently
no one is off the market, except perhaps, Brad Fullmer. "It may appear that
we're over reacting, but our pitching has been border line for much too long
now. If we stay the way we are now, yes we'd still compete for the division
title, but it's clear we wouldn't advance very far in the playoffs. Our
goal is nothing less then the World Title."
With the Outlaws' less then spectacular play recently, it's been speculated
that manager Don Slaught's job might be in trouble. Sources close to Raisor
would neither confirm nor deny such talk.
