Pending league approval, the Deadwood Outlaws have traded LHP Mark Clark
(1-2 6.30 ERA 10IP) and their two Second Round Amateur Draft Picks to the
Tampa Bay Mets for RHP Rick Reed (3-4 3.88 ERA 62.2 IP 12 Starts).
Reed, 33, has been a solid starter (6 quality starts) during this, his
rookie season. "Reed may be a PVBL rookie, but he's been around, and will
be a big help to us," said Outlaws GM Phil Raisor. "I understand we gave up
an up-in-comer in Clark, but we felt this was something we needed to do."
The trade for Reed was neccessitated by the injury to RHP Jose Rijo, who led
the Outlaws in ERA this season.
Reed joins a big group of Outlaw starters that already has, RHP Greg Maddux,
LHP Jeff Fassero, RHP Todd Stottlemyre, LHP Paul Spoljaric, LHP Jamie Moyer,
and LHP Al Leiter. "I'm convinced that we can win with what we have, we
just need to figure out the right combination," said Raisor. "This also
give us some leverage in case we need to make a move for something down the
line."
