PVBL: Deadwood Outlaws
Outlaws Trade Girardi for Newson

March 27, 1999

Pending league approval, the Deadwood Outlaws have traded backup catcher Joe Girardi to Washington for OF Warren Newson. Newson is expected to platoon in left field with Rich Amaral.

Deadwood's lineup now looks like this:
2B Robby Alomar
CF Steve Finely
3B Ken Caminiti
1B Rafael Palmerio
RF Eric Davis
SS Travis Fryman
DH Brad Fullmer
C Mike Stanley
LF Rich Amaral/Warren Newson

With the trading of Girardi, Deadwood GM Phil Raisor has sent RHP Brad Clontz to AAA Tombstone and recalled manager Don Slaught to the active roster to serve as Mike Stanley's backup.

In other news, the sale of the Outlaws to Eastern Foods, Inc was completed today. Eastern Foods is owned by Bob Brooks, who also owns the Hooters Golf Tour, the Hooters Racing Tour, and over 70 Hooters Resturants. Phil Raisor, already an employee of Eastern Foods, will continue in his General Manager duties. Brooks has no plans to move the team from Deadwood, SD.
