PVBL: Deadwood Outlaws
Ready For the Season

March 10, 1999

Deadwood GM Philip Raisor went into the Free Agent Draft looking for someone that could step right up and make an impact with the big club, and in new Outlaw DH Brad Fullmer, he thinks he has found one. "I couldn't be happier getting a kid with Fullmer's talent. We're going to throw in right into the fire, but my scouts say he's ready", says Raisor. The Outlaws picked Fullmer 9th overall in the draft, a pick that they traded popular outfielder Al Martin for.

Fullmer joins a terrific lineup that features an all star at nearly every position:
Robby Alomar 2B
Steve Finley CF
Ken Caminiti 3B
Rafael Palmerio 1B
Eric Davis RF
Travis Fryman SS
*Brad Fullmer DH
Mike Stanley C
Rich Amaral LF

Raisor would like Fullmer to eventually move to left field, and may have done so already, but the newly aquired Rich Amaral has had an outstanding spring, and has won the position.

The Outlaw's rotation, while certainly not the best in the league, is going to be solid, and should be helped considerably by the offense. When you score over five runs a game, you can give up a few here and there:

RHP Scott Erickson
LHP Jeff Fassero
RHP Alan Benes
RHP Jose Rijo
LHP Paul Spoljaric

Erickson was the subject of many trade talks in the past few days, but Raisor has pulled him off the market for the time being. Deadwood has to be a favorite for the Enterprise crown this season, and possibly the World Series.
