Interestingly, Montreal Royals owner Peter Carbonetto owns considerable
shares in Nabisco co., and Dare happens to be a subdivision of Nabisco. The
Royals owner is very pleased with the current developments and the
endorsement deal signed with the Maple Dogs and Dare Cookies.
"Currently, Dare Cookies are outselling all Labatt products at Maple Dog
Stadium," said Dare divisional manager Kurt Shiling. "The demand for our
maple cookies in the Toronto region has increased over 1000% since the team
has moved."
As for the Royals, Carbonetto plans to put this investment into good use.
The contracts of Otis Nixon, Pete Harnisch and Kirk Rueter will expire at
the end of this season.
Carbonetto had no comments about the profits earned from the endorsement
deal. But he did have to say this: "The Maple Dog-Royals rivalry has the
potential to become the Royals' most heated rivalry. Especially considering
both teams have been competitive this season and are about equal in the
standings. I can't wait for them to play each other."
Their first ever confrontation will be on July 30, in Montreal.
