PVBL: Montreal Royals
Schmidt, Morris Pack Their Bags

June 16, 1999

Harnisch Returns to Former Team

* Hal Morris has been with the Montreal Royals since Day 1, but has been dealt to the Spokane Pirates. Centerfielder Orlando Palmeiro and Hal Morris are leaving on a flight to Springfield. In exchange, the Royals obtained Spokane's 1st and 2nd round amateur draft picks.

* Only hours later, Jason Schmidt was told he is now playing for the Medina Mustangs. Schmidt, a promising young pitcher, struggled in the spring but has improved tremendously in June. Schmidt was involved in the Randy Johnson trade at the start of the season.

* In exchange for Schmidt and the Royals' 1st round amateur draft pick, journeymen Arthur Rhodes and Pete Harnisch have been dealt to the Royals. Harnisch played for the Royals only last year before being traded to Medina in exchange for Rheal Cormier. Now, Cormier and Harnisch are teammates.

* Arthur Rhodes has been pitching in the bullpen, but will probably move to the rotation and replace Santo Skinner. Pete Harnisch will replace Jason Schmidt's spot in the rotation.
