"We're in a tough division," said team president Peter Carbonetto, "and
hiring an assistant will give us an advantage."
Trade requests can either be sent to Peter Carbonetto or to Ted Cade.
Royals Acquire Otis Nixon
Only a day after trading away veteran outfielder Tony Phillips, the Royals
have refilled that position by acquiring centerfielder Otis Nixon from the
Springfield Atoms. In return, the Atoms get the Royals' 20th pick in the
upcoming amateur draft. The speedy Nixon is batting .339 in 15 games with 5
stolen bases. He has 144 stolen bases for his career, second on the DL
all-time stolen base list.
Otis Nixon is what Royals centerfielder Curtis Goodwin has failed to
become: a consistent contact hitter who can steal everytime he gets on
base. Goodwin has the speed, but he has struggled with the bat. Due to the
trade, Goodwin will probably be demoted back to Ottawa, the Royals'
Triple-A affiliate.
