Mesa Gets a Save!

MONTREAL (CP)--Mesa one of his worst outings of the year, but as luck would have it, he got the save! The Montreal Royals closer has now a total of 1 save for the year.

Mike Grace had his worst outing of the year, but Bill Simas made up for it by pitching 5 innings and letting up only 1 run. The Royals eventually went on to win 8-7, thanks to a 5-run rally in the seventh inning. Spider Monahan hit his first home run of the year, a 3-run blast.

Galena thirdbaseman Chipper Jones went 4-4 in the game to surpass Rusty Greer in batting average. Jones is now second on the list. Greer, who went hitless in 3 at-bats, is third on the list.

The Royals are 3-3 this season against the best team in baseball.
