PVBL: Mississauga Maple Dogs
Mississauga's Maniacs or Carbonetto's Conspiracy?

August 7, 1999

With the recent gut wrenching injuries to Eric Davis and Cecil Fielder there have come allegations that fans bearing the Mississauga Maple Dog colours were stopped at the border and being held suspect to being responsible for the attacks.

Maple Dogs owner Jesse Gouldson had this to say, "Well, what can I say. I have mixed feelings now. Our chances of making the playoffs have improved though I hate to see it happen like this. It's also nice to see our fans are willing to do such a thing to see us in the playoffs. That never would've happened in Thunder Bay."

Gouldson also has another theory, "To be honest with you though, I don't think our fans are quite smart enough to hatch a scheme like that. I smell macaroni and cheese. I think Peter Carbonetto's behind this."

Apparently Gouldson believes that Carbonetto planned all this and payed the fans to do it. "He's desperate for a playoff berth and he doesn't just want the wild card. He wants the division. Now he found a way to do it that he can get away with. I'm going to get to the bottom of this."

In other news the Maple Dogs lost 2B Carlos Garcia, a leader in stolen bases, for 2-4 weeks. Edgar Martinez is day-to-day too. "That hurts, especially now." Gouldson said about the injuries.

The Maple Dogs have also pulled to within 1.5 games behind Kirk division New Diggens. The Kirk has 3 of the 5 best teams in the EL.
