Medina (AP)- The Medina Mustangs traded Ryne Sandberg today to the Galena
Hamsters today for third baseman John Aust.
"It was simple, really, " said GM/Owner Randy Reese, "Ryne was a player who
could help Galena now, John is a player that can help us later."
The 36 year old Sandberg is batting .290 with 4 HRs and 20 RBI's. Aust was
batting .217 but only had 23 at-bats with Galena.
"Hey, as long as he hits well in a couple of years, thats all that matters"
said Reese, "We feel are rebuilding program is coming along nicely, and we
think we are going to continue that in this years draft, which our scouts say
will be one of the deepest in awhile"
Reese also announced that the next home game will be "Take-a-seat Day", where
fans can take home the seat they sit in during the game.
