PVBL: Medina Mustangs
Mustangs Acquire Tomko

April 27, 1999

Medina (AP)- The Mustangs announced a major trade today, sending outfielder Alex Ochoa and their #1 1999 Amatuer draft pick to Anchorage for pitcher Bret Tomko.

"Well, we could spare an outfielder." said Mustang owner Randy Reese, "With Cedeno and Coker waiting in the wings, we felt this was too good to pass up. Tomko should hopefully give us one of the more talented pitching staffs in the PVBL, with Tomko pitching with Fernandez, Helling, Hess and Harnisch."

Tomko is expected to replace Bob Peterman, who has had a rough start to the 1999 season, with a 7.56 ERA after 16 innings. Peterman will be moving to the pen.

During today's press conference, Reese was asked if he ever planned on trying to win a championship, or if he was going to keep on trading guys year after year. It was pointed out that since Reese took over the team at the beginning of the 1998 season, 58 players and picks have either been brought in or sent out in various trades.

"It just goes to show that no one is untouchable." replied Reese.
