The Medina Mustangs announced today a potential blockbuster trade with
the Washington Sea Dogs. The Mustangs traded infielders Robin Ventura and John
Olerud for infielders Bill Mueller and Pete O'Neill, and outfielder Don Coker.
"We've accomplished two things we needed to do," said Mustangs owner Randy
Reese, "We needed to improve the overall defense of our infield, and get a
player who can put the bat on the ball. Bill Mueller can help us in both those
areas. We are even more excited about Don Coker, who we feel can develop into
one of the best outfielders in the league. Oh, and we got some guy named Pete
O'Neill, who we think might be able to provide some depth."
The trade also makes Washington the odds on favorite to repeat as Defiant
League champs.
