The Mustangs announced today that they traded pitcher Steve Traschel to
Thunder Bay for outfielder Roger Cedeno, who had been traded moments before by
Galena. "We have a surplus of starting pitchers. With Fernandez, Helling,
Hess, Rhodes, Harnisch, Traschel and Peterman, one of them was expendable."
said Mustangs owner Randy Reese. "With Cedeno, not only do we get a guy who
has the potential to hit for both contact and power, but we feel he will have
aweseome defensive ratings. He will be the type of player that can play any
position, although we plan on playing him in the infield."
With the addition of First Baseman Todd Helton in the Free Agent draft,
the Mustangs have solidified the future of their infield. "We dont plan on
contending this year, or maybe next year."said Reese, "but in three years,
watch out!"
