PVBL: Macon Whoopie
Farewell to Bichette, Welcome Tatis

June 16, 1999

Dante Bichette, playing his last game as a member of the Macon Whoopie crushed a solo shot in the first game against Mississauga. Taking a curtain call, Bichette acknowledged the fans and donned the colors of the Whoopie for the final time. Macon still dropped the game 11-3. Wasdin who started the game gave up 3 runs in 3 1/3 innings then allowing flailing phenom Dixie Easton to give up 5 runs over the next 5 innings. Easton, who has struggled all season said, "To be truthful with you, I'm not sure if I'm ready to compete at this level."

Jose Oquendo had no coment.

That night Dante left on his flight towards the chilly north, Anchorage and Tatis flew into the warm, sunny Georgia. The change was immediate. Starting at DH, Tatis went 3-5 in his first game for Macon with 1 run, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.

"I love this place!" Tatis claimed. These guys have given me a chance right away and I plan to take advantage of it."

Macon shut out Mississauga 6-0 the second game.
