PVBL: Hartford Whalers
Hartford in Trouble

May 29, 1999

Hartford lost 4 in a row and has fallen 4 1/2 back of Deadwood. The Whalers are 5-7 in games played outside of the McCoy and have dropped to 1 game below .500 for the first time. It doesn't look good. "I'm at a loss," commented Manager Kevin Kennedy. We've got the talent and the pitching's holding up but we're just not winning. It's that simple." The Whalers hope that the new lineups they've implemented starting tomorrow will shake things up a bit.

Side note: Kurt Abbott has played 3 games since returning from the DL and has batted over .300 with a homer, a triple and a double. Meanwhile, Riggs and Stynes continue to struggle and Reggie Sanders, who was in the Top5 in BA at one point, has slumped to just around .300 Pitcher Kevin Millwood has also struggled while no one seems to be able to sufficiently fill the fifth starter role for the club.
