PVBL: Hartford Whalers
Hartford Back On Top, Still Shopping Martinez

May 18, 1999

The Hartford Whalers are back on top of the most see-saw divisional battle in all of the PVBL. They lead the second-place Deadwood Outlaws by a 1/2 game on the heels of a 3-game win streak. Montreal has also been winning of late, while Edmonton is trying to shake off a 5-game losing streak.

Tradewinds

Rumor has it that Hartford is STILL trying to shop RHP Ramon Martinez to anyone needing a starter or long reliever. They have also reportedly tossed around some of their relievers' names and even Kevin Millwood's name came up once in trade talks. So, what is Hartford looking for? A STARTING CF, a backup 3B or just a great DH bat or PH off the bench in general. They have also been in talks for a solid starter to be #3 or #4.
