Edmonton(AP)-Every time Tim Salmon stepped up to the plate this season, the
chorus of boos erupted. Salmon has been the Oil Kings favorite whipping boy
since their brutal collapse in the second half of last season. "It's too bad
that Timmy was blamed for our awful finish. You win as a Team and you lose
as a Team." GM Sculac finally accomodated Salmons wish to leave. Last night
Salmon and underachieving 3b Kevin Orie were dealt to the Washington Sea
Dogs. In return the Kings will get 3b Robin Ventura and OF Garrett Anderson.
"We'll miss Timmy and Kevin, but the 2 guys coming our way will help us
right away. We've been lacking left-handed hitting all season. " Salmon,
ever the class act, had this to say." I'd like to thank the organization,
they treated me fairly while I was here. And I'd like to wish the Team good
luck the rest of the way."
