PVBL: Edmonton Oilers
Franchise In Turmoil

May 19, 1999

Edmonton(AP)-The Edmonton Oil Kings lost their 8th consecutive game last night, setting a franchise record. "I don't know what to say," stated GM Brian Sculac."I really thought after acquiring Alex(Rodriguez)we would really take off. Well, we've crashed." The offence has sputtered the past 8 games, where the Oil Kings have managed only 13 runs. "I'm extremely frustrated. Maybe it's time to make some changes." When asked which players were available, Sculac only commented "Anyone except Alex."

Oil King Notes:

-rf Vladimir Guerrero and 3b Kevin Orie continue to struggle. Both are hitting under .200.

-2b Gene Erickson(mired in a slump)has been replaced by veteran Joey Cora, who had a brutal start. "I'm happy to be playing regularly again, I thought I might be moved." said Cora.

-Look for GM Sculac to make some changes-Salmon, Guerrero, Clark, Hundley-no one is safe.

-Rumours persist that GM Sculac will take on an Assistant, thus cutting down the immence workload he's had to endure.
