PVBL: Calgary Cowboys
Changing Times

July 12, 1999

Calgary?(CP) - For the last few weeks, the whole Calgary organization has been a sham. Not only have the 'boys been playing in New York, but they are not even real baseball players. Or at least they havn't been playing like real baseball players. Their 37-52 record puts them 4th in the Data division. The whole team has been horrific.

The players love playing in Calgary, but they get no respect. "Every time I hit a home run people say that it is because of the thin air" sayed Frank Thomas at a press conference yesterday. Due to this fact, the cowboys managment has been comtemplating a move for quite some time.

This decision became urgent when last week, an incident occured at the Saddledome. It was a great game which the boys ended up winning. There was a group of rowdy college kids in the bleechers making way too much noise supporting their team. Right beside them, a much smaller group not paying any attention to the exciting game. This of course upset the rowdy college kids, who wanted everyone to be a part of the great game.

Long story short, they ended up in a brawl. But in the end, every one watched and enjoyed the fantastic game. The calgary managment blames the incident on the cheap beer at the saddledome. "With our low prices, the consuption is incredible" quoted Marc Gagnon, Cowboys GM yesterday.

After all the dust had faded away, the Cowboys management had made up thei minds to move the team. The only question was where? They knew they wanted to stay in Canada. Polls were done, surveys were taken, and in the end they decided to move to Eastern Canada, more specifically, to Moncton, New Brunswick. The new team, name, the Moose. It's nothing to falshy, but it symbolises, all that is Canadian. The Moncton Moose will play in the beautiful new Moncton stadium very surprisingly resembles the Big O in Montreal.

The Moose Management are hoping for a rebirth of sorts and for a new life in Moncton. Everybody is happy to be here and it gives our team some stability, hopefullt for a long, long time.
