Vero Beach, FL (AP) - After ending the season by being swept out of the
playoffs for a second time -- this time in the DLCS -- unnamed Bums
sources have indicated that this will be Phil Garner's last season as Bums
manager. According to team sources, Jim Leyland, a former coach and
manager in another league, is slated to take over as early as next week.
Bums owner/GM Jason Gohlke had no comment other than, "We'll wait and see.
I haven't even seen the boxscore yet. All I know is that Phil has done an
outstanding job in the year-plus since he replaced me as field manager."
