PVBL: Tucson Border Patrol
Worst to First

June 17, 1998

For the first time in franchise history, Tucson sits atop the Kirk division of the PVBL. Riding a 3 game winning streak, Tucson is .5 games ahead of Motor City, losers of 6 straight. Wiht Medina just 1.5 games back, the Kirk division race is one of the tighter ones in the PVBL.

Tucson has made some trades to strengthen it's future as well. Sherman Obando, blocked by Tuson's impressive array of talent was send to division rival Medina. Alex Ochoa, a promising outfielder was sent along with 2 minor league pitchters, Joe Pennyfeather and Brian Barber. In return, Tucson recceived Mark Gruzielanek, Jim Koppe, and the #11 pick in the amatuer draft.

At the moment, it looks like Rondell White will be taking over the right field job on a permanent basis, with Rich Becker cementing himself in the center field job by raising his average 45 points since coming to Tucson. Grudzielanek will take over the full time ss job, since Lund has really struggled at the plate this season.
