PVBL: Thunder Bay Storm
Here's a little ditty

August 31, 1998

Once upon a time there was a magical land called the Pepper Virtual Baseball League, or PVBL for short. All the villagers were happy, enjoying another fine season of baseball. Then something terrible happened. A mysterious, evil sorcerer had threatened to destroy the PVBL. All the villagers held their breath, hoping that they could once again live in peace. Fortunately for them a friendly magician, Matt Peck, was able to fend off the sorcerer and return peace to the village, but the cost was steep: to go one month back in time and have everything which happened since then erased. The villagers knew this was the only way to keep their humble little town so they could do nothing but stand by and watch the events unfold. Others rejoyced and others had to sacrifice, but all were glad they continued their existance in the PVBL.

While some teams obviously suffered and lost more than others, many of the important villagers forgot about the 'little people'. Motor City, Washington and Hartford seemed to get all the attention when time went backwards. A team like The Thunder Bay Storm was all but forgotten. The former division winners Brooklyn Flaming Skulls were in dead last place when an owner north of the border took over the team and hoped to turn their fortunes around. He rebuilt the team and hoped they could at least finish the season off strong, ahead of a few teams. It seemed to be that way, with players starting to perform up to their abilities, but it was not to be...

Players who were healthy (Wade Boggs, Carlos Garcia) suffered season ending injuries, players who were league leaders (Tom Dodge, Eric Plunk) were now in the middle of the pack, a rookie who got off the bench and exceled (John Williams) came back to earth, a bullpen that began to earn respectability was blowing leads and close games left and right. The team that looked to finish off the season on a strong note is now once again in last place overall.

But then again,
...And they all lived happily ever after.
