In an effort to shore up their starting rotation the Mets traded
prospect/bench warmer Ron Choate to the Medina Mustangs for Doc Gooden and
right fielder Sherman Obando.
Gooden will most likely replace Butch Henry (1-5) in the starting rotation.
Sherman Obando will ride the pine backing up Whitehill, Hunter, and Baines in
the outfield. Obando also bring much needed power to the lineup. Obando
joins Jaha, Baines, and Blauser with being the only people on the team with a
power rating of 65 or higher.
